The Healers Demise
A break in the clouds,
Sunshine warms my face.
As I look up to the sky,
And await my fate.
Crimes they say I've commited,
Least ways, in the eyes of man.
To pay for what I've done,
For being at one with the land.
Persecution haunts me,
Through every waking hour.
Tearing right through to the bone,
Bile rising, tasting sour.
My fear is unimaginable,
As I wait to meet my doom.
The torch is lit, a spark is born,
The fire ignites my broom.
What was it? I'm left wondering,
Did I do that was so wrong?
I've healed and helped and nurtured,
I thought that I belonged.
As the flames rise higher,
I feel the pain no more.
I smile and leave my body,
To the clouds above I soar.
