The Guest

Welcome to my little room,
step right in and grab a seat;
how have you been, pal, what’s new?
would you like a hot cup of tea?

I see that you brought your guitar,
I’m glad you did, I really am;
it's such a long and cold evening,
it would be nice to have some fun.

Strum those strings, let’s shake the walls,
I’ll play along and sing a tune;
and if our notes don’t come out right,
hey, that’s no big deal, it’s alright.

Let’s take a break and have a sip,
tell me your hot little gossips –
who’s with whom and who’s going where?
really? that is all new to me.

We’re about to drop, the hour’s late,
the time has come for us to quit;
though it’s been a fine, nice evening
we just have to end it here.

Before you leave this place of mine,
know that you’ve been a welcome guest;
drop by again some other time,
I’d love to hear from you again.
