The Grey

Two doors to choose
one white
white as downy snow
as fresh light
one black
black as immorality
as charred tar
which would you select?
I'd think the white,
so pure, so bright
only wondrous things could lie
behind
then I ponder the darker
the black
hellish minions could lie
or the darkest nights
how tainted,
how vile,
I step back and fill my lungs with air
I look these doorways up and down
before walking through the grey of the walls
now there is no turning back
I chose the grey since it's all I know
If you notice only the black and the white
Life's little treasures never cross your sight.

Life cannot be absolute, nor we as humans. Humanity's color is most likely a gray one, as many things are so relative.....but we learn lessons from both light and dark. Darkness and Light cannot exist without the other. Very insightful....Best wishes, Sara
