The Greatest Silence
Though I now lie silent
Passive as the picture
Of me on your walls,
This silence makes you deaf
And my absence shed no tears.
It was just the other day
I wrestled with an alligator;
And tussled with a mighty whale;
With bravery I handcuffed lightning...
A hero I have thrown thunder in jail,
Without mercy murdered a rock,
Before I brutally injured a stone.
I hit a brick and sent it to hospital
So mean I made medicine sick.
I am the part
You won't recognize
But get used to me:
Black, confident and cocky
My name, not yours;
My religion, not yours;
My goals, my own
Get used to me.
I said
I was the greatest,
Not the smartest.
