The Grandmer

KOSOVO - THE GRANDMER
If you could feel the pain of hunger's bite
that eats away at her, and made her old
wearing the rain drenched cloths both day and night
and holding someone just to fight the cold;

perhaps you'd have a clue about the scene
of tens of thousands shouldering in fear
not caring where they're going or have been
but hoping to survive just now and here.

If you could see a grandmer's tearless cry
no more to shed, but written on her face
is only hope that she'll be swift to die
into a grave no one will ever trace.

She gave him one last tired and hopeless smile;
knowing grandper would join her in a while.
