The Gods Must Be Crazy- Contest

Thirty years as a pair (well, next year we'll be there)
if by the Lord's grace you still find us,
but I think it's a crime, that he's taking his time
old Yue-Lao with his red cord to bind us.

Though sometimes we might start a row and a fight,
you would think that the first to jump in
would be Mars, God of war in Roman cosmic law,
but no sign of him when it begins.

Mighty Thor, God of thunder knows whose thumb I'm under,
but he's making no song or a dance
he takes us as he finds us, no need to remind us
that we're never parting- no chance.

Anubis seems quiet, I'm not quite sure why it
ignores that I love you to death
I don't need to worry, it seems in no hurry
to take from me my final breath

The spirits above us, most of which say they love us
since time began, I think they knew,
apathetic or lazy, the Gods must be crazy
to let me keep on loving you.

The title drew me in...and when i was clicking on it, i thought i would find myself somewhere in the kalahari desert...but when i opened and read, i found myself somewhere higher. A pleasure to read Viv :-)

Was smiling throughout the read! "Mighty Thor, God of thunder knows whose thumb I'm under" made me smile even more... Great wit, and attack on the theme as always, Viv! :-)

I really like your style. You're creative and innovative in your subject matter. You say things that get you thinking other things and the reader’s not confused by the transition. You have a poet’s soul quick wit and a colorful imagination ...a deadly combination to success. Emile.

Emile, you're very kind. If you saw some of the epic failures I've composed and then thrown away, you may change your opinion. However, when something works and folk like it, then the frustration is all worthwhile. Many thanks. Regards, Viv

Thanks, Andrea, if I'd concentrated on the Hindu deities, it would have been a sixty verse epic, and you'd still be reading. Viv x

You're lucky to have the gods on your side, Viv, and luckier still that Mars keeps his distance! May you lovely pair enjoy more years of crazy love! I dedicate to you the song "Crazy Love" by Van Morrison:) ~ Regards // paul

Thanks, Paul, I see that early Maltese people had a fertility cult which through folklore tells of a Goddess who lived on broad beans and honey- I can only assume all the temples were built upwind? Thanks for dropping by. Regards, Viv
