The God That I Know

we all look at the sky

                  To look for God, the almighty;

                  Oblivious that He resides

                  Within our own Heart!

                  The doors of which opens

                  By the soothing vibrations

                  Of truthful prayer that springeth

                   From the bottom of our heart.

                   We go from temple to temple

                    From one to the other of places holy

                    In search of Him

                    Forgetting that He resides

                    In the sweat of the man

                     down the street who toils

                      from dawn till eve for

                      bread for his simple family

                      Does not God resides in

                      The innocent smile and giggle

                       Of the child in the street

                        A destitute's only possession.

                        Know thee then that my God

                        Lives in Truth and in simplicity;

                        Know Him thus, and Praise Him

                        For He alone and only He alone

                        Can lead us from illusory living

                        To a living that's gateway to Heaven.
