The Girl Inside

The girl inside hates herself. She hates the way she laughs- She hates the way she cries, She hates the way she sees herself through her own eyes. She hates the way she walks, She hates the way she talks, She hates the fact that she has to act, like nothing is ever wrong. The girl inside is me, you see, The girl that wishes she could be- Better, smarter, skinnier, prettier, Anything, anyone, that is, Except me.

This poem lifts its message over the words like a cold wind might rattle the leaves on an Autumn's eve, leaving understanding and sadness in its wake. The author denotes how pain of the heart is so hard to release cleanly as it festers just below the surface of our lives. Emile.

I never want to confuse the writer with the speaker in a text be it poetry or prose but if this is you in the poem, I feel sorry for you after reading this because even though I don't know you, I know I believe that God created you to be all of those things you say you are not. I can tell you what you are, a budding poet with wonderful poems to share. :) Welcome to poetrysoup!
