The Girl In the Mirror

I look in the mirror
I don’t recognize
The girl staring back at me
She’s not the girl
She was when she
Started this school
She’s not the girl
Who cried every night
About what her mother did
She’s not the girl worried
About where her father is
She’s content with who she is
She’s not the girl who hated
Walking through the hallways
Afraid of the people who would stare
She’s not the girl who used to
Wear baggy clothes every day
She doesn’t care what others think of her
She’s the girl who was influenced by her friends
She’s the girl who enjoys life to the fullest
Even when she does not want to
She feels insecure sometimes
She gets upset Sometimes
But she doesn’t let that control her
She controls it
Because the girl in the mirror
Is finally okay with who she really is.
