The dough rests
In the small fridge
Rolled out by the baker
She has worked hard now
But the job’s not done yet
Cutting the shape
Then in oven to bake
Out pops a plate of men
Gingerbread just get a whiff of them
Ginger, molasses, golden brown, crisp
Who’ll be the first to get a taste of him
Hands first or the giant head fingers
Center of crispy, brown chest
feet, or round belly
Look around instead
Maybe some icing
Some buttons, or eyes, mouth, or clothes
Long, stocky pose this leg or that
Who’ll eat his nose Filled with ginger
Any part goes Yum, yum toes
