The Gilded Leaves of Autumn Sigh
SEASONS AND LEAVES
The bright green leaves of Summer beam,
Vacation's here and so's ice cream,
Let's all go boating in the stream,
Life's beautiful in sunshine's dream;
The gilded leaves of Autumn sigh,
Shedding their beauty by and by,
Buds have slipped off, branches are dry,
Colourful life can bid goodbye;
The silver leaves of Winter dance,
Under the whitened sky's romance,
Snowflakes have held us in a trance,
Pallid is life's colourless stance;
The soft new leaves of Spring do sing,
There's life around, freshness and zing,
Fair flowers and blushing buds do bring
Sparkles to life and great rejoicing.
