The Gift of Love

The Gift of Love
Growing up, love was such a foreign language to me
I have never seen it present ever in the house
My parents have never loved each other, I believe
They only got married because of the accident of me
They were legally obligated to take care of me
And they weren't exactly joyful about doing that job
My parents have never given me anything in my life besides a curse:
The ability to never know what love is or how it feels
School was an estranged experience for me with this irritating curse
I made some friends, thankfully, but still, it lacked what I needed
I care for them as much as I do my family
Which will always be none, I suppose
But I have learned to be ok with this as the years passed
Who needs to know how it feels anyway?
