The Gift of Life

The gift of life you gave to me
A heartless gift...we would agree
You didn’t even blink when asked
When surely some would be aghast
Forever thanks...I guarantee

You heard my self-effacing plea
And in your heart...you did not flee
My expectations…you surpassed
                            The gift of life

Your former heart drums inside me
It’s allowed me life…to be free
True admiration...you amassed
Your legacy…forever cast
Perpetually, I’ll credit thee
                             The gift of life

HOw nice to do one for organ donors. I have a friend whose daughter lies close to death at this moment awaiting TWO lungs. She has a very rare disease which puts holes in her lungs and she had to lose over 60 pounds just to be on the transplant list. right now she is at the very top!!

I love this clever take on the contest, Natalie. Yep, we're both on the register as organ donors - after we're dead, I hope, LOL
