The Gift

The Gift

I recently turned fifty,
so my doctor sent a gift.

A little box wrapped neatly,
my mood began to shift.

It was made for collecting
a sample of my poo.

I wrinkled up my nose,
and wondered what I should do.

The thought filled me with dread.
I really didn’t want to do it.

Then I stopped to ponder
what my other choice would be.

A nasty prep followed by
a colonoscopy.
