The Gardener

Who is more the gardener? The one who plants the seeds, Or the one who tends to them? I am tending to them now, Although I did not plant them, And know the planter's claim to them Will always outweigh my own Yet he can never take away The work that I have done, Nor rob me of the simple joy Of watching as they grow For when they are mature, The seedlings will remember The hands that helped and cared for them With tenderness and love.
