The Game of Love

The game of love some would say is chess-like.
You never know when the dark queen will strike.
The knight might be the hero of the day.
But not if the queens' gambit has her way.

We all know what it's like to be loves pawn.
When you give it all to love that's soon gone.
Even if you have the bishops' blessing.
You might find one day your love confessing.

The queen has power to win at loves' game.
She wins when the king has given his name.
Not because of some cleverly placed shove.
The queen hopes to win because he's in love.

Even if she should break his heart one day.
He could dream of when...he stood in loves' ray!
