The Game of Chess

The Game Of Chess Life and chess being analogous The game for us all really matters And I aver, watching games of Karpov and Fischer,I emerged wiser and stronger Learning from them to manoeuvre shrewd strategies of capturing power And to vanquish adversaries By pushing them to blind alleys Of exposing a bishop by merely moving a pawn And queening a pawn, when resources are meagre and powers are gone Or to avert stalemate By sealing opponent's Fate From them I learnt pinning of enemy queen Or by double-check a precious piece to win And thwarting a hostile pawn on seventh rank- The game also provides a clue That sometimes it is wiser to retreat Than to suffer waterloo
