The Game

The game is his friend. Always there for him. Never turning him away. Inviting him to visit And giving him the Best seat in the house. In front of the screen. It is his sport. Replacing baseball, football, Basketball and all others. It lets him score And makes him feel Like a winner. Like a champion! The game is his sustenance, Feeding his thoughts, Shaping his soul, Controlling his mind, Closing the door to family. To intervention. To the world. Anger grows behind Raised brows and widened eyes. Desensitizing him. Honing his skills and Numbing his feelings. Making him blind to life. Making death easy. Without compassion, Without love.

You've listed all the sad, negative things that affect our children, Ray...every child, person, for that matter, needs attention, validation. Congratulations on a deserving win and thanks for reading and leaving a comment on mine. Annalise

This speaks volumns, Ray. So filled with the truth of how today's youth is growing so accustomed to death and violence, they hardly show a wrinkled brow. Not all kids, of course, but too many (as you have spoken so eloquently)...are numbed to the pain of others. An insightful poem.

Well thought out poem. When our son was growing up we limited time on video games and got him involved with other activities that had him interact in the real world. He still likes video games but has turned out to be a successful and thoughtful. Person. Congrats on win
