The Fruits of Our Toil

We'd like to be redeemed We've suffered enough What merits have we to show? Hmm. That question's tough Well, we've toiled and toiled for the sake of the Lord We've given to charity more than we could afford We've sheltered the widow the orphan, the stranger, the poor We'd not much to feed them but they felt cared for, we're sure We've studied the Holy Book nearly every spare minute Even if we can't quote every detail in it Alright, I hear. You deserve to be redeemed Your unstinting effort's earned the Lord's esteem

You've got a great point there... The harder we try, the luckier we get, as well. Thanks, Rico. :) gw

I always applaud efforts to help those in need, Gershon, and right now needs are great and widespread. Love the final couplet at the end as it sums up the message so well! Hugs, carolyn

Lovely poem but am sure it can't be earned... it's by grace that we're saved through faith - not of ourselves... Scripture: Ephesians 2:8 King James Version 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Love to you always, Gina

Interesting comment, Gina To wit: Faith, of course, faith! Above deeds? -- That's an interesting race. (Many are the thoughts of man...). Happiness and Light, Gershon

Fortunately our Salvation is not tied to works. Still as a way of showing our appreciation I’m a big supporter of generosity. Blessings Rick.

Interesting answer. How about tithing? What happened there anyway. When I was younger, all the Christians I knew, many of them just nominally religious, tithed their income. Now? -- If they did, the welfare government could go out of business. ~ Just sayin,' gw

This touching conversation with the Lord expresses the hope of all believers, Gershon. The last two lines are joyously heartwarming. This is a fave for me. Blessings, Evelyn
