The freedom to fly
If you want to fly free
You have to let go
Of the things that bind you
To the ground you know
Useless possessions
Pointless chatter
Exchange them for
the things that matter
Stop trying to cover up
the natural true you
That paint sticks to feathers
Clogs them like glue
With gummed up wings
You cannot fly
So you will never be able
To take to the sky
What need of news
you can do nothing about
All it does is fill you
With hopelessness and doubt
And the weight of possessions
Keeps you on the ground
If you can grasp this
It's truly profound
Because it's hard to let go
"what ifs" fill your head
And you cling to your things
With worry and dread
Yet you dream of flying
Through the clear blue skies
So your day is filled with longing
And heart wrenching sighs
Let go and let god
Is a saying I've heard
You need to live by that
To fly like a bird
