The Formidable Sea

On this vessel for far too long.
But as captain, I can't jump ship.
The land taunts, to me you belong.
Why did you agree to this trip.

On board for just over a year.
Mentally trying to stay strong.
Losing my marbles I do fear.
My career choice was very wrong.

Crashing waves sing a mocking song.
So you thought you could handle me.
Vastness of my waves are headstrong.
From me you will never be free.

I will invade your dreams at night.
Haunting nightmares I can prolong.
Decision you make should be right
Accept, then can we can get along

Indeed, we would like to find ourselves on more solid ground, but sometimes we just end up on uncharted waters... An interesting poem that leaves something for the reader to ponder on... Well written, Cecilia, and perfectly rhymed!

I have had these "career choices that were very wrong" - sometimes I know before noon the first day and turn in my badge giving them notice.

Probably I should look at this poem through metaphorical eyes, Cecilia. Sailing on rough 'seas' can easily effect our lives! Dialogue could be the answer. ~ Hugs // paul

Was writing this for a contest but my form was wrong, I had chosen the ship picture on rough seas. My life is mostly integrated in my poems. Metaphorically my sea seems to always been rough , I accept it for what it is. Hugs

The sea is formidable - its power and awesomeness is overpowering - when we go on seaside holidays i do not venture deeper than ankle depth, especially Africa's sea which is wild - I think that if you are on a ship and accept its tempestuous nature, you can accept and agree to get along with its crashing waves and its intimidating vastness. I love this poem! Well penned Cecilia. Blessings, Jennifer.

an emotional rollercoaster of a journey - it could be on board ship or it could be about a life' journey' which can be tempestous and weathering a storm with a rocky relationship:-) hugs jan xx

I love the sea. Do not know if I would want to be on a ship of a long time. (A year???) Something to think about. Have a wonderful day.........
