The Forgotten One

Loneliness consumes me as I return to my ell
Although on earth, this is my own personal hell
I switch on my radio and let the music take me away
So many people I’ve seen come and go, but loneliness is here to stay

So-called friends don’t have time for a convict like me
I wait for my end but I’m at the beginning of eternity
They say, “out of sight, out of mind”, How true!
Since I’ve been confined, I haven’t seen or spoken to you!

My Momma passed away and I was left utterly alone
Family was M.I.A. and there was an ache beneath my breastbone
The pain nearly drove me insane, and it’s been a long run
Not much longer will I be the “Forgotten One”!

JAM, I don't know what Doris meant by "Lonely follows you out of the cell, unfortunately" And she "enjoyed" the write!! Such insensitivity can only come from the heart...But don't believe these negative comments..we all know where they come from.. You will be with family and the good people who truly are your friends..Keep looking to your amazing future with your kids and family...Much love, always, Peanut Butter

Isolation exists in isolation. Omce it is shared, it evaporates. I am also on Facebook and Myspace.

Hopefully, yours is not a life sentence. Your pain and loneliness is very moving. Even those on the outside have these feelings, but you seem to have been abandoned by those who were closest to you. How sad! My heart aches for you now. Your poem brought tears to my eyes, Jimmy. Love, Carolyn
