The Five Hour Flyover

The Five Hour Flyover
David J Walker

Oceans of cotton and pumpjack sails
The reality of time on miles prevails
On the horizon painted and parted by hours of
Tipping the scales between
small towns hovering over the
Llano Estacado

Herefords and horses line fences
demanding all five senses
to comprehend the vastness
of the Alternative Reality
of a forever reaching horizon

5 hours of driving to
Everywhere or
	Anywhere you want to be
When you are young and

Needing the energy
of millions
To make your day profitable
And your nights
  Plausible

5 hours from anywhere
5 hours from everywhere
5 hours deep into an
alternative reality

Oceans of cotton and pumpjack sails
The distance prevails
Extracting time against miles
That never fails
To call you home again
