The Fish Slap

Your words, a fish slap Stun me Not hard and not hurtful, but shocking An icy blow, padded in fleshy layers of softness Neither shouted in ire’s voice or sharp with disdain Yet they pierce me still, and coat my thoughts with their lingering smell of truth 02.09.2021 (My darling Sidney-Faye, I hope I visualized your analogy correctly, love you madly)

Cannot believe that nobody has yet commented on this intriguing little poem...it is actually, for all its simplicity, quite brilliant. As always...the most unheralded poets, on this site at any rate, seem to receive the least accolades. This is deserving of recognition. The very next time Poetry Soup announce they are looking for inclusions in their latest offerings of poems do yourself a favour and submit this one. Cannot hurt any if it does not get selected...it is well worthy of submission.
