The Fish Slap
Your words,
a fish slap
Stun me
Not hard and not hurtful,
but shocking
An icy blow,
padded in fleshy layers of softness
Neither shouted in ire’s voice
or sharp with disdain
Yet they pierce me still,
and coat my thoughts
with their lingering smell of truth

(My darling Sidney-Faye, I hope I visualized your analogy correctly, love you madly)
