The First One
You will never take away my first mania.
That day I awoke feeling balanced.
As if there was a cure from within.
Motivation, energy, and joy.
Untethered, unembodied, unimprisoned.
For the first time, I was itching to run into an endless horizon.
Until I realized that I was only grasping a delusion.
And I was embarrassed at the person I attempted to live as.
Mania will always pass.
But the lessons I learned from depression will reign on.
