The First Flight
Delicate feathers of royal blue
A sweet symphony of melodious tweets
I am the bird, passed by in her tree
Wanting to fly, wanting to soar
But the ground stands below, dark and unknown
How can I risk such an uncharted fate
The voice inside of me tells me to fly
My destiny awaits in the clear blue sky
Yet it holds me back, the ground beneath my branch
An unknown distance, an undiscovered realm
How do I face my fear when I've never met my foe
Alas, I look up to that crystalline sky
And I take a deep breath before spreading my wings
Off of my branch, I finally leap
This baby bird has learned to take flight
Soaring above to an unknown height
The day is now mine, for I have conquered my plight
