Notes About The Poem

I wrote this poem Sunday morning prior to attending church at the Tabernacle with the intention of providing it to the pastor to read to the congregation. I hoping posting it here prior to going there.

The First Day of September

The First Day of September

It is the first day of September
The year is twenty twenty-four
We're meeting at the Tabernacle
Christ came with us through the door

We here worship Him together
We sing praises to His name
Since He died, for us, upon the cross
Our world has never been the same

The stone was slid and Christ arose
Three days after it was set
If we believe he did it for us
We are forever in his debt

He took our sins upon his shoulders
He is our way to Heaven's gate
When we pass from this life onward
Eternal life will be our fate

Jesus Christ is waiting for us
His Holy Spirit's with us here
Our believing is receiving
One day soon He will appear

In the rapture He'll return to earth
And take all believers home
I myself believe this truth
That is why I wrote poem
