The First Day of School

At the beginning of every school year, it would be up to me to stand in front of the rest of the classroom and name every sibling and their history. Like some sort of freak show at the county fair. “Look here, look here, it’s the amazing freak-a-zoid with fourteen brothers and sisters. Be astonished…be amazed…turn your heads and snicker, as he recites his entire family lineage.” Most times I’m happy Being a part of the crowd Sometimes I would scream

how unnerving that experience was...almost cruel for a teacher to subject you to the recitation. I doubt a teacher today would get away with that. A great story (Haibun) followed with the perfect Haiku. Nicely done, have a great evening my poet friend, Sara
