The Fire In My Soul

The fire in my soul
Was just another chapter
In your insane life.

A safe and loving harbor
For you to come home to
Candle light would glow
In the frosty window
The embers were warm
As you walked through the door
Greeted with passion
Never turned you away

Blind to that other life
You led on the outside
Believed you my true love
As we danced through the night
The candle light dinners
I cooked to perfection
Making sweet love
By the crackling fire

I was played for a fool
Believing your words
Your music so soothing
As I sat with my tears
I forgave you again
And again, and again
Until the forgiving
Had emptied my heart

Yes, the fire in my soul
Was just another chapter
In your insane life………
Until it burned itself out.

Yes, so true! Thank you for your kind words! I am still trying to find my way in the world of poetry, have gone through a very emotional time these past few years resulting in a flow of words on paper.....
