The Fire and the Rain

Into the rain and into the fire,
The darker the sin, the deeper the mire;
The cry for deliverance, the plea for your life,
The hand of salvation comes through like a knife.

Out of the fire and out of the rain
To see the hand that inflicted the pain;
The trial of affliction, the test of the heart,
To appreciate the hand that tore you apart.

The Son is revealed, deliverance has come
The heart finds its peace and rests in the One.
Refining, refreshing, by water and flame,
Tested by fire and cleansed by the rain.
