The Final Petal

I’m anchored to you like an ancient root I don’t escape but pull on your side there’s a comfort lying here in our dormant love and some days I float weightless there let us sideways step into another tired year the dimming light will halt for a moment and the warmth of a flame will endeavour to strengthen my patience once more where solidarity blooms then weight will wither and the ground is our new home memories disintegrate and drift downstream where desire remains a dream state can you pull me up when I’m wearing thin? can your kindness overthrow it all? I know I will need you when the clock strikes one and it repeats until the final petal falls
