The Festival of Light ‘deewali'

The Festival of Light ‘Deewali’

We are celebrating Deewali,
A festival when we light- up many many lights.

Light is more important than life
As life without Light is no Life,
Lightening Deeps or a candle is only symbolic
Enlightening the mind and heart is the real gesture, we celebrate Deewali.

O light Sublime, enlighten my mind,
Under the feet of God, so that I can remain in peace and calm,
Enlighten my soul, so that I can feel the music of God,
Enlighten every human being poor or rich, healthy or sick,
Of any religion, in world’s any part,
As they, all are the children of God.

O graceful Goddess of Light, please fills your light in every human being,
And specially in the life of those, who are in absolute dark, or
In the life of those who are in distress and do not find a light
To console their weeping heart.

Spread your light, like the wings of sky,
Touch every particle, like the Sun touches the earth,
Touch every heart, which is in agonies and are crying,
Put your hands on us like the hands of God,
Wipe tears from every weeping eye, and
Spread your smiles on every face, O Goddess of Light.

Very beautiful, RAvindra. Have you heard of the Disney movie Tangled? If you get a chance to see it, there is a scene where many lanterns in one night are lit for a little girl who was kidnapped from her parents. It's a very inspirational part of the movie, when the girl (now grown) sees the many lights all around her floating like stars to the sky. Yes, light is most wonderful!

A joyous, uplifting poem in honor of the fistival of light, Ravindra! I have a similar poem, Beacons of Light, on how mankind has always been drawn toward the light. I hope you are enjoying the celebration of this festival! Love, Carolyn

Light is wonderful because to be in total darkness would be awful for human beings..God loves us and made that light for us before He even made man so that all would be just right for man on this earth..Sara
