The Feeling of a One Way Journey
It's rare
in the life of
people with soft cheeks and full flesh
to never return.
Hard and sharp,
eyes squint and mouths
tighten; the surprised
look on the agent's face when he
sells you the ticket. "Are you sure?"
he says.
The repeated
change of seasons,
heading once again
to summer, the
cycles of the day
always renew. It gives you hope.
When I pleaded to the nurse
how I didn't want my life to change,
she said it already had.
