The Fall

Stumbling
in low darkness
I fall
against
that damp brick wall,
my every surface
rubs grime and slippery.
I roll bug-like into myself,
a vain attempt
to protect
what hope
or dignity
I have
left.

This poem is about the depression phase of the bipolar cycle. It is accompanied by another poem titled "Flight," describing the manic phase.

Thanks... It's been a good day. Fortunately, it's rarely as dark as the poem. Jack

Yes it is dark there sometimes, although not as often as in the past. Thanks for the reply. J

Hi Jack, there is nothing wrong with falling. I fall all the time. We just get up and keep going. Have a great day. Lucilla
