The Fading Light

               I watch the sun's smile gleam on the petal
               as it drifts beneath the Dogwood tree

               moving from sunlight to shadow

     we once burned bright like the sun

                                       shining on everyone
                                                         
   until heaven spoke
                
                             now you are gone

               and my light
               shines no

               more
