The Face of God

In the quiet hush of life
  all is unmoved.
Holding onto breath
  waiting, watching, listening.
I wait,
  I wait.

I may not see the face of God
  in this mundane, physical life;
but there are glimpses in the darkness
of an innocents bright blue eyes,
in the laughter I no longer hear,
in a smile that was contagious.

I may not hear the voice of God
because of the tenacity of wanting faith
and through the passage of time
I believe it will come to me
when I am ready to accept it
to recognize and acknowledge putting aside all doubt.

In the lull of the wonders of the universe
  I am listening and waiting
looking for my creator
  waiting and listening
to at long last
  see the face of God.
