The Eyes Which Size Them Up - Kh

"Plain women know more about men than beautiful ones do."
                                                                   ~ Katherine Hepburn

They see the eyes which size them up
Like cows at a county fair
Their breasts not nearly firm enough
Their hips too narrow; so limp their hair

They never get used to it
    These ordinary plain Janes
Gorgeous girls may or may not have brains
But a spurned woman forever feels the pain

I would say, plain women know more about the cruelty, judgement and shallowness of (some) men - but this is very well put, wonderful entry for the contest, gw!

You're right. I managed to refrain from the famous Shakespeare line: "Hell hath no fury like a woman spurned." (But it's true, I think at least insofar as modern wives are concerned!).

Nice one my friend. The saddest thing is..plain women are beautiful women, so the quote makes sense and then it doesn't. Best wishes in the contest

To convince a plain woman that she's beautiful takes a lifetime, if she's grown up viewing herself as plain. That's what I've seen anyway. Smiles, Gersohn

Thank you so much, Alexis. I do my best to be empathetic, hopefully not in a phony way... Happy Sunday evening to you. Best always, Gershon
