The Eyes of Light

Sitting up late at night and remembering your smiling face and your eyes. Those eyes had a sharp and piercing look into my soul. Your determination commands a respect from a man to meet your size. A poise walk on well-kept feet whether you walked barefoot or on a sole. I remember working at night and I would see you come in from work You were tired and just wanted to go to sleep When you saw me you would stay up and speak to this man at work Your eyes and smile will be part of my heart’s keep When I left the valley of the shadow of death I feared for you due to the lurch I know you are strong with your eyes and mind Still I would hope that we could see each at the CHURCH Let our enemies trap themselves in a bind I met you as an acquaintance, then as sister, then as a friend, my heart I will not let my words, emotions, and feelings from you, they will not dart.
