The Evolution Of Our Species Will Be Decided by Autistic Individuals
Not by decree,
not by crown or committee of certainty,
but by pattern-seers
in a world that often forgets its own geometry.
There are minds
that hear structure in chaos,
that notice the seam in the system
where others only see noise.
Temple Grandin once spoke
in the language of cattle and corridors—
not as metaphor,
but as architecture of thought,
making fear measurable,
making empathy buildable.
Greta Thunberg stands
like a sharpened question
in the weather of denial,
refusing the comfort of ambiguity
when the data is already screaming.
Elon Musk bends attention
toward machines and orbits,
toward systems that scale beyond instinct,
toward logic stretched into steel and code.
Satoshi Tajiri—
or the many minds like his—
collects worlds into systems of play,
where rules become ecosystems
and curiosity becomes design.
And then there is me,
standing in my body that you have been given,
carrying pain like an uninvited equation,
still trying to solve meaning
through language, through memory,
through poems that refuse to stay silent.
But none of this belongs to one category alone.
The real solving happens elsewhere—
in kitchens and hospitals,
in classrooms and quiet rooms,
in autistic minds and non-autistic minds
leaning over the same unsolved problems
like light over water.
We do not evolve by purity of type,
but by collision, by overlap,
by the strange mercy of difference
learning, slowly, how to translate itself.
The hardest problems—
suffering, systems, survival—
do not yield to one kind of mind alone.
They yield when minds refuse isolation.
And still, somewhere in that weave,
there are those who see the hidden structure first—
not better, not higher,
just differently tuned
to what others overlook.
That is not the future deciding itself.
That is humanity
trying, imperfectly,
to listen across its own variations.
As normal people are afraid of what they don’t understand.
And the more we are hurt the more we turn deeply into the silence, inside of ourselves.
