The Evening of Life

The distant horizon is set ablaze
Old couple stand on beach to gaze
The setting sun sends its last rays
Over the glimmering waters in a haze

Heralds another day coming to an end
In the journey of life, a day less to spend
The undulating waters caress the sullen shore
Transporting their thoughts into the days of yore

When age and time were on their side
They splashed around in the shimmering tide
Collected seashells buried in the sand
Thrown by the waves as it embraced the land

They sculptured castles with the moist sands
Made adroit use of imagination and their hands
The next surge of the waves flattened them out
Throwing their architectural ability in doubt

They reminiscenced the ripples in their lives
Judiciously kept in their memory archives
Wondered how the sight of shimmering tide
Relaxed the mind and restored peace inside

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
