The Established Few

One of the few advantages of aging, Is the establishment of the few, Those souls that refuse to scamper, Although they stand witness to all I do, They are my exalted, established few. They bore witness to my many train wrecks, They were there when my soul has taken flight, They’ve seen me talk to animals, And have carried me through my darkest nights. They know above all others, The many colored feathers I wear, They even know of the swords I've carefully hidden there. They are my strength when I’m beaten down, They somehow stick around, my cherished, my established— Few.
