''The Essence of a Best Friend''

The essence of a best friend
is tender and most true;
its lovingness knows no end
and shows its grace thereto.

The essence of a best friend
abounds in godly love,
and ascends and descends 
to and from Heaven above.

The essence of a best friend
is full of forgiveness 
and mercies that transcend,
and frees those who transgress.

But most of all, the essence
of a best friend is his need
to be a constant presence
in a friend's life for life indeed!
