The Endless Vault

Lord I'm happy and I'm smiling and It's all Your fault.
You let me have a look inside Your endless vault.
I saw so much love and goodness in there
and I want to thank you Lord for giving me a share.

I was running amuck all over town.
Sucked up, smacked back, falling down.
I got arrested, it never fails.
Seems like I like the inside of these jails.

I came in angry and full of rage.
I knew it was my fault they put me in a cage.
But I blamed everybody I possibly could.
I didn't seem to care if I was bad or good.

Bitching and moaning on my pity pot.
Yelling at God, why'd You let met get caught.
I got so mad I built this big wall.
I thought I was safe but then the Lord made a call.

I felt His presence and I got a little scared.
I thought He'd be mad but He just cared.
He showed me some people who had a really hard time.
They had it worse than me but they were doing fine.

They were some of the nicest people you ever could meet.
Some of them had no arms and some had no feet.
It made all my problems seem so damn small
and I want to thank the Lord for making that call.

The Lord took me to school I was a student in His class.
He said, " Get off the pity pot and wipe your ass."
The anger and resentment that I carried inside.
It all disappeared, it wasn't justified.

So are you sick of dealing with all that stuff.
Would you like to have some of the Lord's love?
Are you tired of running and you need a little peace.
Look to the heavens and get down on your knees. Amen

No one can accuse you of sitting on a "pity pot," Allen. You take full responsibility for your actions and I think that's what God intended by posing challenges in your path. You truly have a gift for pointing out the weaknesses in human nature. Excellent writing!
