The End of the Day
A golden disc setting beneath azure waves
Rays of fading light reach for passing clouds
Turning them into brilliant gold
Gulls float by on summer breezes
Crying their good nights to the world below
They look for a place to roost
To rest their tired wings
Waves that pounded the shores all day
Smooth out creating a sheet of liquid glass
The dying amber light makes it look surreal
Pure and shiny as a flawless mirror
It reflects the first of the evening’s stars
For a moment the world is quiet
The wind, the waves and the birds lay in silence
Resting from a long day of living
Waiting for the light of new day
Which will come way to soon
And life…it will begin again
