The End of the Beginning

Don’t come near me When you don’t know the tears that I’ve cried Don’t know the pain that I hide Don’t pretend to understand When you don’t know all that I’ve seen Don’t know all of the things that this body has been Don’t try to hurt me now When it’s only just that I’ve survived somehow Keep away from this girl If you don’t have a clue Of where I’ve been or what I’ve been through Someone once told me that they saw everything in my eyes. How I know what its like in hell. Well he’s right and its true. It’s dark and dangerous and full of despair I have seen dirt on the floor I have seen starry skies through teary eyes Holding onto these memories has cost me dear Last night you haunted me in my dreams It was beautiful and life seemed bright The waking light revealed the hidden truth Behind your stretched smile the curtain slowly draws I can see only the silhouette Of your strung out stage bow And I understand
