The Emerald Compass
Lay your head to rest – I’m trying to be comforting best I can
Put your racing thoughts to sleep and give me your hand
Open your eyes to the light for heaven’s sake! Thoroughly scan
The surface of the ocean that unveils the sliver of light,
Mimicking your spotlight… Now do you understand?
If you don’t get distracted by the commotion
God’s light will be your emerald compass…
God will catch me before I subside again
He’ll surely guide you to a safe, dwelling place
How do you glisten like the moonlight?
Will you acknowledge the guilt, plunging inside you and let it go?
Will you let it go? LET IT GO!
~~Chorus~~
Give me a chance to overcome
These waves of emotions
Understand my situation
Don’t pay attention to the commotion
I see you in secret,
Skipping with pride and unspoiled vitality
While I’m… frozen forever
Livin’ this life guilt-free is impossible in my case…
Bring me the rope of hope, so that I can go with the swing of things
Your screams fail to reach my ears
You won’t hear me cry aloud
These tears were bottled up inside for years
I just wanna scream out loud!
Turn the wheel in my mind’s eye – I’m overflowing with guilt and horror –
Don’t let the tide of terror sweep over me with woe
Open wide your mouth
Let me fill it in with words of pure, inviting insight
That's natural from God's nature...
Purified by the Holy Spirit
God will be your emerald compass...just make sure
To patiently follow it
Patience and self-control will do you good, no harm done
Make sure to finish your mission before the day's gone
