One fateful day,
a lovelorn gentleman
walks into
a descending elevator
with a lady
with whom he finds
very attractive.
A once in a lifetime
opportunity!
A sliver of attraction
seemed palpable
from her end, too.
Pleasantries
were mumbled;,
the ice cracked
but didn't break.
Their smiles
were telling;
an augury
of what could've been.
The elevator parts
like Moses parted
The Red Sea,
and so did they.
Out she went,
walking far
out of sight,
but not out
of the man's mind.
What she said,
and what he heard
was a blur.
He's regretful
as the chance
to reintroduce
himself;
perhaps ignite
a spark of romance,
has passed him by.
