The Element of No Surprise

A lifetime search for this place
of awesomeness and beauty
springing forth a healing well
pouring into my closed mind
beckoning my heart
to let go and believe.
What’s hard to believe,
I found truth of me
in my own backyard
hidden beneath the surface
of dusty pieces of art, unframed;
fragments of heaven had fallen,
kissed my thirsty lips
I came alive to live.
A party of some sort tackled
my emotions to the ground;
there I discovered
I already had all I ever needed.
It was no surprise
to my buried self, uprooted
cheering for me,
laying horizontal in my element
in the company of a great revelation.

Brilliantly written Danetta! Marvelous phrasing and imagery highlight this superb work. '...kissed my thirsty lips I came alive to live, '...laying horizontal in my element in the company of a great revelation,' staggeringly beautiful! BRAVO my dear!! Best wishes, Keith
