The Elegy of My Emptiness
Death is not a thing I like to think of
But death is a thing, like anything in this world, but it's not something we love
Now, why is that? Why don't people like death?
It seems to leave us breathless
When we hear that someone died, in a school, or in a theater, or on the street
Instead of helping, it seems that in this day and age, people just tweet
This poem is titled "The Elegy of My Emptiness," and an elegy is written about a death
But don't hold your breath
I'm not dying, no one close to me has died
I wrote this in an effort to try something new, but it seems a may have needed a guide
Long poems like this are not my specialty
I think I like haikus especially
The only thing that died
Is my emptiness inside
