The Eggs

The hens have stopped laying Six is all I can give Send little Johnny over soon Maybe if the hens live I can give another six That will make even twelve Then on the morrow eight laid well On the coming day delve (This is poulter's measure with fun. It was designed after what a poulter would do..Sometimes one would get a dozen eggs and then maybe fourteen. So lines with twelve syllables and then lines with fourteen. This scheme is six, six, eight, six. With the second and fourth rhyming. The first two equal twelve and the second two equal fourteen. I found this online at a site that had poetry information. I used delve to get a rhyme and it means searching for information.)
